My mind has been preoccupied with not-so-pleasant events from the past. I analyze everything and too often that includes the past. But as I was studying my Bible this morning, this scripture spoke to me loudly and clearly:
“Forget what happened in the past, and do not dwell on events from long ago. I am going to do something new. It is already happening. Don’t you recognize it? I will clear a way in the desert. I will make rivers on dry land.” Isaiah 43:18-19 [GWT]
See? This is exactly how I get in my own way. I analyze, dwell on, and by all intents and purposes, beat a dead horse when God has already moved on and is making moves in MY life without me! He is doing something new in my life already and if I look around, I would see signs of it. But, nooooooo. I’ve been so busy analyzing the past that I haven’t noticed really what He’s doing…until now. That scripture opened my eyes and now I see that He’s been doing what He does all along: creating, co-creating, and re-creating my life.
God is in the business of creating; that is Who He is and that is what He does, from the very beginning. And if He can create something from nothing, as in Genesis, and if He can clear a way in the desert and make rivers on dry land as He says in Isaiah, then surely He is creating something new and fresh in my life NOW. Now, even if I feel that I am not where I want to be or where I should be at this point in my life; I am at a point where He can create with me.
And while yes, I’m special to God, I mean, after all, He IS my Father, I am no more special to Him than YOU are. So if He is making moves in my life on my behalf, then surely He is doing the same for you. And like me, all you have to do is get with His program. Let go of the past. Release whatever or whoever is holding you down or back, and get in creative mode with Him. After all, look around, closely. It is already happening!
