Most of us have been stuck at some point in our lives. Too many of us end up seemingly perpetually stuck. Sometimes God speaks to me in my dreams. As you know, I don’t usually share my dreams, but this one…I feel I am meant to share.
I was at a meeting where a strong man was speaking to a couple hundred of people. This man was a natural leader; he was young, wise, brilliant, strong, caring, lively, captivating, charismatic…. In the middle of his speech, another man, quite different from the speaker, a man of “authority” came in from behind the speaker, and told the speaker that he must STOP. You may be a very talented athlete. You may be a gifted speaker. You may be a creative artist. You may have a brilliant mind for business ideas. You may even believe yourself to be a wonderful spouse. But you may not be successful in these areas if you are unwilling to be TAUGHT. Not if you are unwilling to learn; if you are unwilling to be TAUGHT.
There’s a difference.
And this difference can either be an obstacle to your success, or lead you to it.
So, I’ve been pondering the popular phrase failure to launch all day—it’s just been sticking with me. We’ve all heard of the movie. Some even thought it was funny. But, so many can identify with it on some level because in some area of our lives, we have failed to launch.
Failure to launch happens when you don’t leave your comfort zone when it’s clearly time to leave it. You may say you want to go to college, get a better job, buy a house, or start a new business—and you may even talk about it for years—and STILL you never do it. Or, you may do all the busy work that’s behind the scenes, but when it comes to putting a spark to that match, you just don’t do it.
