It took forever for me to have an inkling as to what my purpose was. I had figured out that I liked being a sounding board, and helping women figure their relationship stuff out, but that was about it. At one crucial point in my life I had strongly considered getting a degree in counseling, but I allowed myself to be talked out of it by one simple phrase: “You won’t make any money in counseling.”
Sometimes God speaks to me in my dreams. As you know, I don’t usually share my dreams, but this one…I feel I am meant to share.
I was at a meeting where a strong man was speaking to a couple hundred of people. This man was a natural leader; he was young, wise, brilliant, strong, caring, lively, captivating, charismatic…. In the middle of his speech, another man, quite different from the speaker, a man of “authority” came in from behind the speaker, and told the speaker that he must STOP. I recently posted a status update to my Facebook profile that said, “God is testing me while Satan is tempting me.” That has been my experience off and on for the better part of the year…and I’m not alone. If you are striving to live on purpose according to God’s purpose for your life, if you are reaching and stretching to get to the next level, if you just want something better, then you may either be tested by God or tempted by Satan.
